The works in this series, transcribe the markings left by anonymous taggers and turn them into works of gestural abstraction. Photorealist in their production, the paintings occupy two dialectical positions simultaneously—perpetually balancing between the meticulous techniques of their production and the expressive gestures perceived by the viewer. Taken altogether, they form part of the artist's physical and emotional mapping of the city, where encounters with places become markers in an intricate and highly personal spatial constellation.
